Catch of the Week!

Catch of the Week is the Character Development Program at Kingswood.

At the start of each school week, each classroom will introduce the character trait that
will be the focus for the entire Kingswood community. The instruction of the character
trait will be done during morning meeting / calendar time each day and will be presented
using a variety of techniques such as class discussion, definitions, quotations, and activities.

Each character trait will also be connected to the Kingswood SWIM matrix so that students can make the connection between the two. Students will have the opportunity to earn tickets for displaying the character traits as well as behavior expectations as indicated by SWIM.

Each Friday, every teacher should select a student a Catch of the Week who ha displayed or worked on developing the particular trait. The name will be submitted to the school counselor. On Monday of the following week, the counselor will take individual pictures of the selected students and give them a Catch of the Week pencil. These pictures can be posted outside the classroom door for the week on a special Catch of the Week certificate. On Friday, the child can take home the picture and the certificate.
